About

A longtime advocate of Ward 15, Councillor Judi Partridge resides with her husband, Jeff Partridge (President of the Carlisle Optimist Club), and family in Carlisle. They are the proud parents of Justin, who completed his Masters at the University of Dalhousie in Economics, and Jordan, who is currently studying Music at Humber College. Councillor Partridge was first elected to Hamilton City Council in 2010. On October 27th, 2014, she was pleased to be re-elected for a second term with 70% support from Ward 15. At City Hall and locally, Councillor Partridge is respected as the go to person who gets things done. She emphasizes that the community spirit of her residents gives her the strength to work hard on their behalf. Council knows I will not back down when it comes to my community, explained Councillor Partridge. Together with my residents, we have accomplished a great deal. In her first term in office, there was unanimous support to remove highly contentious parking meters in Waterdown, and she successfully fought to keep Hamiltons Casino located at Flamborough Downs instead of downtown Hamilton. In addition, what Councillor Partridge is most proud of is her work with Millgrove residents to save Millgrove Public School from closing. Flamborough Centre and Mary Hopkins schools are next in line for negotiations in 2016. Councillor Partridge has also championed the Value for Money audit of City spending and the privatization of HECFI, Hamilton Place, Hamilton Convention Centre and Copps Coliseum Arena, saving taxpayers millions. My residents have been there to support me every step of the way, she explained. In partnership with the Waterdown BIA, Councillor Partridge and the Waterdown community brought back the Waterdown Farmers Market in June 2014, which was a huge success. In addition, the Flamborough Santa Claus Parade is stronger under a new partnership brokered with all community groups, and received a tremendous turn out in November 2014. At the organizers request, Councillor Partridge was pleased to facilitate meetings with local service clubs and community groups to ensure that the Flamborough Santa Claus Parade would continue in 2014 and beyond. I feel very blessed to have the support of so many dedicated residents, said Councillor Partridge. During her first term with Hamiltons City Council, Councillor Partridge worked to attract new businesses at Clappison Innovation Park, creating jobs for local residents. In addition, GO Transit will build a new maintenance and storage facility, which will bring GO buses and 85 high tech jobs to Flamborough. The Flamborough Agriculture sector has also increased with the new Earth to Table farm development, as well as several new farm-related business expansions. Agriculture is a $1.5 billion industry in Hamilton, with much of it located in Flamborough. New facilities such as the Harry Howell Arena bring state of the art recreation to local residents. The arena was named in 2014 after Harry Howell, a local NHL hockey legend. In addition, the completion of the new Guy B. Brown School and Waterdown High School expansion, which Councillor Partridge helped champion funding for, will address educational needs. Important heritage projects such as Waterdown Memorial Hall will be renovated with a new glass Elevator Tower. Finally, the new all-season Memorial Park Outdoor Ice Loop. Prior to assuming office in 2010, Councillor Partridge held senior management positions in government affairs, corporate affairs and media relations. Her charitable work over 20 years included serving on several Boards, and she was a founding member of a local charity to help women and children in need. She is also a past recipient of the Woman of the Year for Government Affairs and Communication YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. Councillor Partridge is a graduate of McMaster Degroote School of Business United Way Governance program, and most recently a graduate of York University Shulich Executive Sc
